Common Hair Problems - And the Solutions!
1. No Volume
Lack of volume can be caused by a variety of factors, but the most common reason is using the wrong shampoo/conditioner for your hair type. The second biggest reason is using conditioner all throughout their hair instead of just the midlengths and ends. It’s an easy problem to fix and makes a huge difference.
Shampoo at the scalp, condition the mid to ends. DON'T Skip the Conditioner! Use one designed for fine or limp hair.
2. Damage Control
An easy way to prevent damage is to be gentle when de-tangling wet hair. Use a large-toothed comb or a brush designed to de-tangle wet hair. Wet hair can be very fragile, so you need to be gentle when brushing or combing.
When hair is wet it will actually stretch like a rubber band and "snap".... don't want that! - Start at the ends and de-tangle as you go up. If you conditioner doesn't de-tangle enough for you, use a de-tangle spray such as Pureoligy 21 Benefits. I also like the Brazilian Blowout Smoother Serum!
3. Dulling Hair
Product buildup can cause dull hair overtime, especially when it is constantly used. Make sure you are using a clarifying shampoo once a week to rid their hair of buildup. This is an easy way to bring life back into your color and hair.
This area is famous for hard water, which can cause mineral build up on your hair as well. It will dull, discolor and leave your hair limp or dry. Malibu C makes a great hard water shampoo, and I'm always happy to do a de-tox on your hair when you come to see me!
4. Constant Split Ends
Even if you love to keep your hair really long, make sure you are trimming the ends, every 8 to 12 weeks. This helps to keep the hair in healthy, as dry, damaged ends split, and travel further up the hair shaft if you don't remove them.
Very long, fine hair, is especially susceptible to split ends. Hair only grows about 1/2" per month. That means if your hair is 20" long, those ends have been hanging out there blowing around for about 3-4 yrs.
5. Healthy Hair
How can you make your hair more lustrous, thick and healthy? It really makes a difference if you eat a healthy, balanced diet, drink plenty of water and take a multivitamin each day. Like skin, hair represents what is put into the body. So what you eat, really does matter when it comes to the health of your hair!
I can help you with topical products, but true healthy hair starts from the inside! :)
